Curious.
And practical.
A personal lab for building useful software, exploring Java and agentic AI, and sharing what I learn along the way.
Gwenaël Jakab.
Developer. Curious. Builder.
As a Java developer in Belgium, I focus on application modernisation, business systems and agentic AI. JakabLab is my independent software development studio: where needs become practical tools and experimentation informs the work.
I build, test and adjust. And I want to share what these projects teach me, with concrete examples and acknowledged limitations.
Curious about AI.
Demanding about software.
Java and Spring as the foundation.
Agentic AI as a field to explore.
I’m interested in agents that use tools to accomplish concrete tasks. My guiding principle: start with a need, expose clear business operations, then measure what works.
The language can be natural.JAVA · TOOL-USING AGENTS · EVALUATION
The rules must stay explicit.
Business logic decides.
Data validation, calculation rules, access rights and data isolation stay in Java services. An API exposes testable business operations.
Resultat resultat = operationService
.executer(requete, utilisateur);
// rules and permissions checked
The agent coordinates.
My field of exploration: tool-using agents within a limited scope, able to ask for clarification and propose actions subject to human approval.
Evidence before promises.
Evaluate tool calls, responses to ambiguity and refusals of unauthorised actions. Observe costs, time and errors too.
